Often times when we’re trying to understand the Three Principles, it can be easy to slip into intellectual understanding. However, the intellect doesn’t hold the answer we’re looking for.
Insight holds the secret to true knowledge that is nestled within each living soul. We may get a glimmer of that secret knowledge, a fleeting moment of starlight that stirs our hearts and souls, then in a flash it’s gone.
What was that flash of light, we ask ourselves? Where did it go? Will it come back? We wish we could understand what that glimmer meant. How can we get another glimmer? Do we need to be still? To meditate?
In innocence, we cover the glimmer of starlight with analysis. In innocence, we focus on the questions of how, what, where, rather than honor the glimmer. The glimmer IS the answer we’re looking for. The glimmer is the heart of understanding, expressed in a deep feeling. Even when it’s a momentary feeling, it’s a profound expression of our very essence, the spiritual energy we’re made of.
I recently had the privilege of talking with a wonderfully wise group. In the course of our conversation, I mentioned that when I’m in “flow”, my grammar improves, as well as my confidence in using words I don’t typically use.
I shared with them a funny story of how a dear friend had once asked me if English was my second language as I was known among my friends to sometimes pronounce words incorrectly, which frequently brought about some great hilarity.
When I shared this story with the group, one lovely soul spoke up. I’m paraphrasing her now. This is what I heard her say.
“I feel our first language is the energy and feeling of spirit.”
It was such a profound statement that the power of the feeling left me breathless and elated. Pure truth. “Our first language is the energy and feeling of spirit.”
Nothing more needs to be said. This statement equalizes the playing field of humanity. The feeling of truth in this statement goes beyond ethnicities, religion, politics, social status, and beyond words to the essence of humanity.
